The Indian Space Research Organisation, commonly referred to as ISRO is the national space agency of India. It operates as the primary research and development arm of the Department of Space (DoS), which is directly overseen by the Prime Minister of India, while the Chairman of ISRO also acts as the executive of DoS.

    Chandrayaan-3 is the third lunar mission of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The mission aims to soft-land a lander and rover on the lunar surface. The lander, named Vikram, after the father of India’s space program, Vikram Sarabhai. The rover, named Pragyan, which means “wisdom” in Sanskrit.

  • Chandrayaan-3 is launched from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota.
  • The launcher used for Chandrayaan-3 is GSLV-Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle.

  • The launching date of Chandrayaan-3 mission was 14th July, 2023.
  • The ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) is located in Bengaluru.
  • Chandrayaan-3 mission costs 600 crore less than the Chandrayaan-2.
