Life of a Great Man

Lakshminath Bezbaruah

I have great admiration for Lakshminath Bezbaruah the pioneer of modern Assamese literation. He was a great poet and writer. He is best known as Sahityarathi and Rosoraj.

He was born in November 1968. His fathers name was Dinanath Bezbaruah and mother's name was Thaneswari Devi. He received his early education from Shivsagar govt high school and later went to Kolkata for higher education. He did his post graduate graduation in Kolkata University. He was married with Pragya Sundari Devi..

He is composer of “O mor aponar Desh”,  the state anthem of Assam.  He started his literacy career with a farce, "Litikai" serialised from the first issue of Jonaki magazine. He wrote 8 plays, 4 farces, 3 historical works, 1 act drama, 3 biographies and 2 autobiographies.

I like him for his great sense of humour literacy of writing and patriotism. He was a versatile writer. He wrote dramas, poems, short stories, essays, biographical as well as religious treatises, and one novel. He created a literature of a very high order and laid a solid foundation for the growth of modern Assamese literature.

Lakshminath Bezbaruah was the great Assamese Pioneer in modern Assamese society. No praise can be too high for such a great patriot and writer.
