Basically  HTML is used to make the structure of the Web page. HTML, a independent language which can be used on any platform such as Windows, linux etc. To display a document in web it is essential to mark up the different elements of the document in HTML. A markup document can be open using a browser. A browser Understands the HTML tags, identify the structure of the document and displays the HTML document. This is called a wab page.

Using graphics, font, colours the document can be make to look attractive.
A user can make a link to other documents, called hyperlink.
